Ontario public schools to have two week shutter period after March Break

Andrew Mohan   Mar 12 2020

The Ontario government has announced that publicly funded schools will be shut down for two weeks after March Break due to COVID-19 (coronavirus).

The Ford administration issued this motion based on advice from Dr. David David William, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, and experts on the COVID-19 Command Table.

“We recognize the significant impact this decision will have on families, students, schools, as well as the broader community, but this precaution is necessary to keep people safe,” said the government’s office in a press release.

Public schools will now be closed from March 14 to April 5, 2020.

The development on the coronavirus outbreak has led to cancellations for events in Toronto, whether it’s with sports or the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Other major public attractions have not been shut down as of yet.
